I usually play with a Gibson double cut Les Paul taht has dual P-90's in gigs and practice but when my band plays parties or a place where i'm not really comfortable bringing my Gibson, I play my old Squier, but the stock pickups are very whiney and can't be turned up very loud. What would be a good replacement pickup and should i do it myself or have it set up at a shop?

Alot of people around here will recommend GFS. I think a pre-wired pickguard. Easy to install, and looks/sounds cool.

Vacate is the word...Vengance has no place on me or her...Cannot find a comfort in this world.

imo it's a "no brainer" invest the $ you save doing it yourself in better pickups, or a better guitar to start with.

I put Fender "texas special" pickups in my squier start and 3 500K gibson pots and she screams. The guitar is lighter then my fender and plays great. Its was a sentimental value thing though.
