Another side of this is that most of those legends went out and bought themselves nice gear as soon as they could afford to. I'm sure Clapton has cheapies that he loves, but he has the Fine Resophonics and Ralph Bown acoustics too.

Personally, I wouldn't subject anyone except my closest friends to my playing, whether it was on a Affinity strat or a $800 LP.

I think my dream 'custom' would be a Fine Resophonic 14 fret metal bodied single cone, simply because the vintage ones are usually so unplayable. (Unles I can get some more room, I'm not putting that much into a fragile acoustic! :oops: )

As far as value is concerned, you always pay a premium for guality. Is a $100 bottle of wine 4x as good as a $25 bottle of wine? For some people it is worth it, for others it isn't. For others their taste will top out at $50.
For me, I can't stand low quality sound systems, so I bought a Blues Jr and I'm still using it after 3 years with only the occasional urge to augment it, but not replace it.
