It's not the same as gaffer tape actually. Gaffer tape (as we know it in the UK at least) is a reinforced tape which is quite thick, but shiney. This tape is perhaps only slightly thicker than normal sellotape but is opaque. :)

To address my dropping problem, I have used Gorilla Snot and it has worked great for me.Yay! Another vote for Gorilla Snot! Gotta keep those guys in business, don't want them striking! :D
