For the money, the AS73 and AS83 are really good value, although I prefer larger frets. IMHO, one guitar that knocks spots off the Gibson ES335 is the Yamaha SA2200 and it's less than half the price of a Gibby (around EUR1000).
But I still like my Washburn HB35.....

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

Yamaha SA2200 looks nice from their website - never played one.

I grant you the small frets on the AS73/83 - but I could live with them I think.

Just spotted the SA500 on the Yamaha site, and looking it up, you can get them for under £300 - a third of the price of the SA2200. Ever tried one, Grey? Any good? (There's not a Yamaha main dealer near here to try one out ...)

I've not even seen the SA500 yet. Germany often lags behind other countries, when it comes to new models, for some unknown reason.

By the wondrous wizardry of the world wide web, I discover there's a Yamaha main dealer in Poole - just along the coast - and I never knew it

I'll see if they have the SA500 in stock - if so, I'll do a recce and let you know what I find ...
