The other day I was playing the guitar and dancing around in the mirror accompanied by some extremely heavy metal music, just having a gay old time, when some how one of the screws the holds the pick up in place came loose. So I pulled the screw out to discover that there was also a spring outside of the screw and the spring fell into the guitar somewhere. So, my question is, would it be a wise idea to just take the pickgaurd off and put the spring back onto the screw and just tighten it back up? Is it even that simple?
Yes, should be fairly simple. You won't hurt the guitar. You might want to double-check that the rest of the springs are in place as well!

"If the moon were made of ribs, would you eat it?"
pickups sometimes have tension screws. they assist in raising or lowering the pickup.
so for sure you want that back around the screw.
just be careful and if any thing else drops ot pay attention to where it goes.
I have had that happen on one of my guitars all the time. I was always lucky I could shake it around and get the sprng out without having to take anything apart.
