Hello all,
I'm getting together with a guitar playing friend of mine to form an acoustic duo. We're finding it quite hard to come up with songs to include in our repertoire and wandered if anyone out there could help.
We're planning on doing freebird, more than words, hotel california so far.
They need to be mainstream songs that are particularly suited to two guitars.
Any ideas most appreciated
richard.

You can divide virtually any song for two guitars if you space the parts properly. Traditional rhythm and lead parts are usually pretty easy to formulate, but you can also go with one guy playing the barre chord or open chord, while the other player plays an alternate voicing in a different position.

Also, don't forget the easiest solution of all, which is just playing songs by bands that have two guitarists. Mainstream? Pearl Jam, Weezer, All of Nirvana's Unplugged, Metallica (Check out Staind doing "Nothing Else Matters" acoustic). There's lots. 8)

Do something you love and you'll never work a day in your life...

That's a sure way to make yourself feel inferior right there.

Hehe, well, you don't have to play all the stuff just like Tim does, you can make up some stuff yourself...my point is that all of those songs work for two guitars....and songs like Crash shouldn't be too hard to do something cool with if you're two..... ;)

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
A lot of radiohead would sound really good on two acoustics
Coldplay - Yellow sounds fantastic with two acoustics

good luck!

How about the acoustic "Layla", but I think that might be 3 guitars.

Jars of Clay - He (acoustic version)

Not very mainstream but it's a good song and sounds awesome with my friends cort electric acoustic and my Aria 12-string. Now i just wish I could sing to it without my dog barking at me :)
