I don't have a decent metronome yet
A cheap $20 Korg will do it. I have an MA-30 (Froogle for it) and it does the job just fine. If you need a tuner as well the Korg TM-40 has both a tuner and a metronome - I got one for my nephew last XMas.
Congrats on the private lessons. They can really help push your playing along.

Its great that you enjoy the lessons, I think taking lessons is THE fastest to get better.

Thanks, bish and causnorgin. I agree with you, causnorgin - Willie said that it takes about three weeks before you really learn something on guitar, but I've already seen improvement. It's so thrilling - for the first time in months, I actually want to pick up my guitar and play.
Hyperborea, that metronome looks exactly like my tuner, and I love my tuner, so I'm sold. Seriously though, I have a pretty oldfashioned metronome. Luckily, the Austin Music School is right behind Strait so I'll pick that one up when I go in for the next lesson.
Good to hear it's going well.
Keep up the good work.

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.
It was them that turned me to drink.
Good luck with it.
I am completely self taught, though I am considering taking some lessons on soloing with a teacher I did some work for a few years ago.
just wish I had taken up the guitar when I was 7 and not 47.
My youngest son is learning bass guitar and has been at it for two years now. He has lessons at school, has formed a band (trio), plays in a rhythm ensemble after school and his band came second in last months school talent show.
Not bad considering theey only formed up 5 months ago.
As I said, good luck with it.
Be excellent to each other & party on dudes!
