Just like the topic says, what do these mean in tabs? I could never figure that out. Also, one more question, in a tab (ie the wind cries mary from powertab) how can you do one of these, (this is another thing I couldn't figure out how to play)

---------
------8-
------8-
------8-
-8-h-10-
----------

Thanks Dudes!

I cant tell you about ghost notes.

the Tab you show looks like you barre the 8th fret and hammer on with your ring finger the 10 fret.

Yes i understand that you barre the 8th fret and hammer on, that's how I've been playing it. But look closer, how can you just play the one string, hammer on the 10th fret, but get all the other notes? If you know what I mean.

Thanks Dudes!

looking again I still say the same.

that h for the hammer on is in that position because of typing?
it looks to me that all the 8th fret notes line up and then you siply hammer on.

Im redundant I guess.

or tyotally miss understand....which is the usul for me of late.

If I saw this in a tab, I would assume that two sounds were to be created. The first is the 5th string plucked at the 8th fret. The second is a chord on strings 2,3,4 and 5 fretted at 8,8,8 and 10 respectively.
I would play it by first barring the 8th fret, then striking the 5th string, then striking strings 2,3 and 4 at the same time as my ring finger hammers on the 5th string fret 10.
