i use 10's all round, for the life of me i don't understand why someone would have 13's on an acoustic :?

I would like to go to 12's or 13's with the electric but only cause i downtune. and that's all that guitar would be used for.

11's are also good for electric

And all the things you said to me

Minus Human

1. Tone -- thin strings simply don't have good mids or bass balls on an acoustic. On a properly set up guitar, playing (except bending) shouldn't be unreasonably difficult. Granted, thin strings provide a suitable sound in some cases, but not generally.

2. Volume -- One can bang on a thin string only so hard before buzzing occurs.

3. Slide -- Maybe even heavier the 13's!

If you are finding hand strength an issue, keep practicing, it'll come.

I use 10's on my electric - plain third

11's on the acoustics - wound third

Lo-tension on the classicals - guage isn't important here

.10's.

If only because I shelled out for a 10-pack of D'Addario XL's through Musician's Friend. Should keep me set for a while. :D

Henry Garza, Saul Hudson, and Darrell Abbott could not be here tonight, but they all had sex and are proud to announce the birth of their two-headed baby, Rodya S. Thompson.
