Same difference there is between a violin and a viola.
A mandola (or tenor mandolin) is a little bigger, a little longer - 16" or 17" scale length... mandolins are around 14"... and tuned lower by a fifth.
They also make mandocellos and mandobasses.

Well, i am a fan of spindly plants actually, tho not necessarily in the moonlight. They tend to go pale!
