im really new to this online forum thing so please, bear with me...my amp hums really loudly when i play, but if i turn the volume knob past it's max (like hyper turning it) the hum stops and the amp sounds great...is this a amp problem or a guitar problem? It's an old crate amp (TD-50C) and i have a B.C. Rich Warlock (bronze series)i dont know much about the amp(it was a gift bought from a pawn shop), truthfully i dont know much about the mechanical workings of either (amp or guitar). if anyone has any suggestions or can help out in any way i'd be SUPER appreciative...thanks in advance.
my guess is the amp's gain is set very high. that may cause a bad sound.
other things could be cables, the guitar, and the amp may need a tuneup. pawn shop finds could have seen some abuse.
yea i figured it could be any of those problems, im just not good a determining which...its been a good amp for the most part though. i guess i really just need to get it serviced. my guitar too.
Sounds like it just wants to be turned to 11.
