Hi,

I have a mid-80's Guild Bluesbird with one cracked tuning peg. The hard plastic cast housing surrounding the gears has a crack in it that goes all the way around- so unfortunately, it's not just a cosmetic thing, the tuning shaft now spins in its hole. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions on finding replacement originals, or experience with doing their own repairs. I've looked on ebay- at the moment no Guild pegs, a lot of Wilkinson, Gotoh, Sperzel. Anyone know whether Guild uses one of these but with their own logo printed on them? Repair-wise, I'm looking into Devcon Plastic Welder, which has a high shear resistance and is made for load-bearing bonds, or a similar plastic epoxy from Scotch-Weld, CA-7.

Thanks!

Guild buys them from a major hardware maker and has "Guild" added to the back cover -- most major guitar manufacturers do this. I do not recall on the Bluesbird specifically: Do these tuners have greenish plastic "Keystone" buttons? If not, a pic might or description would help. I recommend checking http://www.guitarfetish.com and http://www.stew-mac.com for replacements that look like yours. Many tuning machine makers now make aftermarket replacements for all the "classic" styles. You will likely have to forego the "Guild" stamping. But that should be a minor thing.

I have seen discussions on restoring cracked and broken vintage Gibson (Grover) Keystone tuner buttons, but cannot locate the reference on this. If I find this, I will post a link.
