I'm getting a new guitar for Christmas (about 6 months to be exact)
But I currently have a metal band and my little gretsch electromatic just isn't high output enough. I'm considering putting an EMG P81(Due to the mini humbucker mounts) in the bridge position. Then take it out after Xmas once I have a new guitar.
If I do get an EMG. Should I do done serious modding and try to fit the full size EMG 81 in the bridge?

The question is, are you going to devalue the Gretsch by taking out the stock pickup?
I've also got this nasty feeling that an EMG will feedback like a pig in a semi. Can't remember where I got that info though.

Well, If i get the P81, ill just put the stock pup back in after xmas time.
