I think I can manage to replace the nut myself Now. The old one practically fell off! (GOT LUCKY!) Super Glue was suggested for an adhesive??? Like regular Clear Superglue...

I've used urethane glue to repair bridges before. I use urethane glue on anything wood.

Just An Update on it!

I filled all the old tuner screw holes in neck the old ones were all stripped out. I'm taking my time, I know the key to guitar repair is patience.

Basically Now I just need tuners and some fresh strings it will be good to go!

For a Korean Made Fender it's built pretty respectably. It was a good investment for $25... LOL

Here's My Handy Work. Kid did a number on it with stripping screws, and unnecessary holes. As you can tell it will be a nice discrete repair when done. I like fixing guitars over horns.

You don't need (or want!) much in way of an adhesive to hold a nut in place, as the strings will do most of the work there. That's why I suggested a small amount of Superglue. It's relatively innocuous, thin and clear, plus it will quickly dry hard and brittle. The last part is good, as it means the glue will help the nut couple to the neck acoustically, and later on when this nut is a goner, the glue bond is easily broken to remove the nut as I describe in my other posting.

BTW, Superglue also can be used to attach or re-attach body binding and soundhole rosettes. Luthiers also use it to do some types of crack repairs -- especially those in solid spruce tops. Regular "runny" Superglue wicks nicely into narrow crevices and cracks. While Superglue is by no means really "super," it does have its uses.

As you can see in the photos I'm not one to Glob on glue. I'll take your advise & use a small dab of superglue on it.

While it's apart I'd love to put an under saddle pickup on it. But I know they tend to weaken bridges from drilling the lead hole. I've repaired a couple broken bridges as results of poor setup, Excessive string tension, and roughly drilled hole for the lead. Might just use a transducer pickup. Spare me any agony down the road.

This is going to be such an awesome piece when I'm done with it, regardless!

Stewart-Macdonald Has NICE stuff, but is a bit hard on the wallet.

Here are some other places that aren't so rough on the dollars.

All parts is a little cheaper than Stewmac. But for electrics all parts has a bit more to choose from. First Quality is updating their website. They have the best prices around for basically everything.
