Hi, quick elec. guitar question. If I play 2 notes on different strings, one after the other, the sound gets all gay and it like molds into one sound. You dont hear the individual notes. And also the sounds vibrate like crazy.
Any idea why this is?

I'm just guessing but there are 5 possibilities (in no specific order)

1) You are getting fret buzz so check the neck relief and string height.

2) It is out of tune

3) The intonation is off. Check the open strings, the fretted 12th fret, and the 12 fret harmonic. They should all be the same.

4) The strings are dead and need changing.

5) If it is electric your pickups could be too high and pulling the strings out of tune.

strings vibrate when plucked. they create an oscillation.
when two strings are plucked and they are harmonically pleasant then the oscillation sounds ok.
however, with two strings that do not harmonize that oscillation will sound funny...often with unnatural tones.

is that what you mean?

If your guitar makes a warbling sound, especially on the high frets, then your pickups may be too high. Try lowering them to see if that corrects the problem. The bridge pickup can usually go as high a you want it. That's just a guess; I don't really know what you're hearing.
