I have a left handed 1979 Les Paul Custom that I used to play a lot, then I was out of the country for a few years and I left my guitar here. Got back and now its making a horrible buzzing from the neck on the lower frets. I've been doing some research and I think the relief in the neck isn't correct.

Also the fret board has been coming up slightly where it meets the body and I think the nut (if that's the correct term) is a little low. This guy completely re-did his guitar but he explains how to take the fret board off, I'm thinking about doing but I am a bit afraid of blackening things due to the heat.

Does anyone have any advice for me? Does it sound like I'm on the right track? How difficult is it to remove the fret board if I have the proper tools? If I replace the nut where can I get one for a Les Paul? I don't see any Gibson brand nuts any where.

I can supply photos if they'll help.
