Hi All,
I'm new to this board and I did a search before posting. I'm borrowing an LTD EC-400 from a friend and after using it for about 3 months the neck pickup works fine with full output, however, when I flick the toggle switch into the middle position I get a very weak tone and the same for the treble position of the toggle. This guitar has two EMG-81 humbuckers installed. It is a Les Paul style toggle switch. I have already done the following:
Tried several batteries
Opened up the toggle switch area and looked for any disconnected or loose wires (none found)
Opened up the tone/volume panel and looked for any disconnected or loose wire (none found)
Any ideas? This guitar did fall but I played it after it fell and there were no problems. As you can tell I'm not a guitar repair man. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Get some contact cleaner and clean up the toggle switch. See if that helps any.
Oh, and welcome to the home of the musically insane..............
I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

Thanks. I already have some contact cleaner. I'll give that a try. I'll reply and let you know how it works out.

I'v tried applying contact cleaner and it did not work. I've noticed the following problems:
In neck position I get full output and the sound is great.
In the middle posiion I only get output if the volume knob is turned down just a little.
In the treble position I have no output whatsoever.
I've opened everything up that I can and I cannot see any loose or disconnected wires. Has anyone else seen this problem?
Thanks in advance,
Dan
