Pickup/Noise - Multimeter Troubleshooting

Greetings all,

I have a noise issue that I've been trying to trouble shoot. When hooking a multimeter probe to to the string, and the other to the Lace x-bar neck pickup, the multimeter stays on 1. When touching the probe to the Lace deathbucker in the bridge, the multimeter suddenly goes crazy and is about 90-100. What does this suggest, a wiring or a shiedling issue?
