I have a Flod-Rose Strat w/ EMG pups. Most the volume comes on between 7-10, with very little before that.
Are their any volume pots that smoothly graduate the volume from 0-10?
You can try an audio taper pot of the same size (probably a 250) that is in their if you like the sound. It will smooth it out a bit.

I'm suspecting that this isn't a linear/audio taper problem, as linears don't usually don't do much until in the low numbers -- that is little attenuation until one gets below "5." This seems the opposite of what's described. Two possibilities come to mind: incorrectly wired audio taper or wrong impedence pot. For the first, the wiring has to be checked, plus it seems unlikely as the pot would operate in reverse. The second seems more likely, but one needs to know if the pups are active or passive, and if passive, single coil or humbucker. Nearly all active pups should use 25 kohm pots. Passives are usually 250 kohm for single coil and 500 kohm for 'buckers. In all cases, audio taper (not linear) is recommended. Gone are the days when we can assume "Strat" means passive single coil, pups -- especially if the terms Floyd Rose and EMG are part of the description.
