I'm changing my humbucker coil split switch (push-pull attached to audio taper pot) to series / parallel as I like the parallel sound better than the split sound.

I've seen two different wiring schemes for the series/parallel selector, both of which are recommended in many places. The only difference seems to be the jumper - see picture below. How would you recommend doing it? Does it even matter? Why are they different?

Thanks in advance.

They are pretty much the same, with the exception that the top version inserts an extra (and unneeded) set of switch contacts in circuit for series mode. As switches are failure points, why do this? I'd go with the Duncan version for that reason.

I had a feeling the top version had some redundancy with the jumper connected that way, but wasn't sure.

Thanks for the info.
