I need recommendations for decent strings (for electric) that don't contain nickel for my son, who is allergic. He gets a rash on his eyelids if he handles it. I guess from rubbing his face.
I think stainless steel generally may contain some nickel, but I found this article that recommends GHS Super Steels for someone with nickel allergies:

And someone in this thread claims to have contacted GHS and confirmed they don't contain nickel:

D'addario and Dean Markley also make stainless steel strings, but you'll have to contact them to see if they contain nickel. Probably safest to confirm with GHS as well.
"Everybody got to elevate from the norm."
Maybe plastic coated strings, like Elixirs?
"A cheerful heart is good medicine."
that coating can wear out pretty quick, and if it's an allergy, it would only have to wear through on a couple spots.

Great info, thanks. I am actually allergic to nickel as well, but not as badly as him. I try to remember to wash my hands after playing the electric and so far haven't had symptoms, but getting a 15yr old boy to do that is not that easy. Maybe I will try the GHS brand as well, since it might not be a good idea to have the frequent contact with the nickel if I can avoid it.
