Dear People,

I purchased a vintage 1981 Maxon UE 305 on ebay (this is identical to the ibanez UE305):

The only trouble is I cannot use it as I am in the UK where the mains voltage is 230V rather than the 110V they have in Japan.

I have some electronics tools and I would like to make a permanent switch, I really dislike unnecessary adapters and cables etc. I thought I could replace the transformer inside the device. It is connected to a 1B4B41 voltage inverter chip. The problem is I do not know what the voltage required by that chip is, and hence what sort of transformer I would need to substitute. I can only find a Japanese datasheet for the chip, which seems to be discontinued.

It occurred to me that the inverter chip might be smart and accept other voltages right away, in which case I just need an adapter for the mains power to the UK 3 pin shape, and can leave the transformer as it is.

Am I on the right track? Can anyone advise how to fix it up?

best regards!
Max.
