Hi

My brother is a lefty and seems to be takeing an interst in guitar since I started playing. He is trying to play right handed but struggles with the strumming. I thought of getting him a cheap classical guitar and restringing it so he can play left handed. Some people told me it would cause problems, but others have said that on a CLASSICAL guitar it is fine to do this.

Can anyone suggest anything else?

The bridge on a classical is slightly higher on the side of the 6th string, so if you can switch it round that's one problem less. The nut isn't so easy though, as it's usually shaped to fit in the neck and you'll probably have to get a new one for left-handed use. If the existing nut is glued in, be very very careful - in fact, let the shop do it, don't want to mess up the neck yourself.

Best,

A :-)
