Hi,

I hope somebody can give me a clue here, because I am all out of ideas.

My tube amp is creating a lot of buzz lately. Normally this are the cords or guitar but its not.
This is what I have tried:

- 3 different guitars
- 4 different cords
- 3 different power sockets.
- 2 different rooms

The problem is when I just plug the cable in to the amplifier (keeping the other end free) the buzzing is enormous, it gets better when I plug it in to the guitar (directly) but it is still there quite loud, it reduces some when I hold the strings but not much.

So it seems to me that the buzzing starts when the jack is inserted to the amplifier. When nothing is inserted in the amp it is quiet like a sleeping baby.

Has anyone encountered such a problem before? I find it hard to believe its the tubes, but I could be wrong.
