Hey everyone, I'm having problems wiring up my strat-copy. I have everything wired up correctly according to this schematic:

http://www.guitarelectronics.com/product/WDUSSS5L1201
All the pickups work, the volume and tone knobs work and the selector switch works but there is still a problem. I think that it is probably a ground problem because I am getting a loud humming sound and if i move around any non-grounded wires, nothing happens but when i move any ground wires i hear the sound cut in and out. I've tried re-soldering everything and i still get the humming. The only time i don't hear humming is if I short out the ground, but that makes the pickups not work.

I've soldered every ground together on the volume pot, including every pickup ground, the volume and tone knobs and the output socket. I also have a ground wire that is attached to the bridge piece that holds the tremolo springs to the volume knob. Should the grounds be wired to different areas? I'm normally comfortable around electronics but this problem is really odd because I don't see how anything is wrong with my wiring.

I'm using general stranded wire (about 22 gauge, I think), should I be using a special type of wiring? I noticed that if I cut the bridge to ground wire that there is no humming when I touch the bridge/strings, but it still buzzes when i touch the pickup screws, pots and the hum goes away when i touch the input jack. I also cut the ground loops I created by having a wire going to the volume to the tone pot, and to the neck tone to the middle tone. Any advice would be great, thanks.

Thanks, the schematic I had was pretty much the same as that one, it turns out that I had the output jack wires mixed up :x Oh well, at least I know what to check next time.

It is always the simplest fix that we try last, ain't it? I've done that wire-swap on the input jack many-a-time.
