Has anyone tried the sheilding process described on guiternuts.com. I have been thinking of trying it just wanted to know if it is worth it.

Yes, and yes.  I shielded my strat following those instructions, and then I did my bass with a similar procedure.  If you've got a lot of hum, shielding and grounding a guitar can reduce it a lot, especially if the hum occurs even in switch positions 2 and 4 (on strats), or at other times when humbucking should be happening.

Thanks I have a Tele and the sheilding doesn't look as complicated as the Strat. I'm getting ready to restring so I guess it would be a good time to do it all at once.

I did mine without removing the strings.  I had to loosen them all and bent the pickguard up and out of the way.  You're doing it the right way.  It's not actually all that complicated once you figure out what it is you're trying to do, but getting that far is tough.
