With tung oil you can wipe it with the 00000 and re-coat in a couple of hours. It isn't going to lighten much, it may loose a bit of the sheen though.

No, it'll keep slowly darkening and yellowing from now on. Most of the darkening's an immediate effect of wetting the wood with the oil, though.

OK I just finished coat 2. I am taking Nick's advice whole heartedly here. At this rate I'll have this baby back together with 5 or 6 coats easy by tomorrow night :) As long as she feels "dry" and I think it can be restrung. Thanks Nick! BTW, is it OK to restring that soon or should I wait a day or at least over night?

Takes about 24 hours for a coat to be good and dry.
