I have an old BMI (Beckman Musical Instruments) acoustic 12-string, made in Japan in 1970s. It has a metal trapeze style tail piece and I need an adjustable bridge saddle that will fit in the bridge slot.

It is the same style as the old Gibson B-45 trapeze tailpiece and adjustable bridge

Here is a link to the clearest photo I could find of a similar bridge saddle for reference. This one is an Epiphone 12 string FT112 BARD (1967) :

Here are the measurements of the slot:

In inches 3+9/16 long x 1/4 wide x 5/16 deep

In metrics: 9.05cm long x 0.635cm wide x 0.8cm deep.

There is nothing like this shown in the Stewart MacDonald catalogs I get in the mail and I've been all over the web looking for one.

It may be an obscure item that most suppliers don't show on a web page catalog. I have photos but can't log into photobucket for some reason so I can't show those.

Any advice as to a web based supplier who would have this item would be appreciated,

Thanks

I'd call Bob at guitarsaddles.com and see if he can make you a new one from bone. I'm probably going to ask him to make a bone saddle for my Alvarez 12-string.

You'd need to send it to him, but his turnaround is quick. Prices are reasonable too - he's far less expensive than the tech at my local GC. But call first, since you're dealing with an odd size and shape.

You can also buy a big slab of Tusq and fashion your own, but that might be difficult (though you might find something close to your current size and need only minor trimming):
