One again, I thank you in advance for indulging me.. I would love to hear any feedback on this one.. maybe wrong place wrong time.. I dunno..

I just finished this lil tune, Started it yesterday, worked pretty hard on it, for hours in a row and finished it a few minutes ago.

The Vocals, Horns, Guitar, Bass.. all recorded one time through, no punch's.

I was shooting for a late 40's vibe, I call her 'Post War Dream'.

Don't laugh too hard... I hope at least someone gets it.. I mean I hope it is familar, acceptable, yet out of the norm enough to perk up an ear for a second or two. It's about all I could ask for on this one.

Again, it's just lil ol me with some relativly primative tools..

Thanks for your ear.

Liked it. You certainly nailed the effect you were going for.
Feedback:

Vocals are too low. You can raise the volume on the vocals and still get that laid back, easy feeling that is present in it now.
If you want to be more authentic, work on the vocal track by giving it that RCA Victrola sound. This would keep in line with the record player sound effects you have at the end of the peice. Which I really liked btw...

Good stuff man!

Teamwork- A few harmless flakes working together can unleash an avalanche of destruction.

Yep, you nailed it.
As an Air Force brat, our dad would take the family to the Officer's Club for dinner.
In the bar, (the next room - where we kids weren't allowed to go) would be the nightclub entertainment.
I heard this back then . . . .
To me, voice was loud enough . . . but I'm wearing earphones from my laptop (so I don't have to listen to the wife)

It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.

Yup, I'd say you nailed it. Despite being nowhere near KR2's age (snicker----sorry, just ribbing ya), I dug the vibe. I've actually got a few CDs kicking around with this type of thing. The almost big-band Jazz thing is soooo cool. You did it very well. You're being way too humble. :D

Funny thing though, is that my folks were both war babies and didn't like this type of music at all. They must have been rebelling in their youth. I did hear many stories told about their uncles and aunties all gathering around to play this kind of thing. Probably faster stuff too, like Glenn Miller type of thing. Too bad that musical gene skipped my folks generation. :?

I saw the Boston Pops about 8 or 9 years ago do a 40's swing night.....orchestra instrument line-up of course. Wasn't the same, but it was still very, very good. I was sitting beside a 70-ish year old gentleman and he was kind enough to share many a tale between songs. Good times.

Hey man, thanks for your time.. I've always loved the 'era' I was trying to emulate.. imagine the cost it would take to go out with a big band these days.. OUCH,..

Appreciate the thoughts and tales!

Great one man. Loved the horns, such a lively sound. :) Is that the Izotope Vinyl plug by the way?

Dog.. that is no slide..

The guitar is a Strat, played through a single coil in the middle position, plugged into a Seymour Duncan Twin Tube on the clean channel, ran directly into the laptop with a free (on the net) reverb vst added later.

What you think of as a slide, is likely just some whammy bar applied here and there...

thanks for listening and thinking about it..

I love the era's music myself..

One of the reason I was insistant on playing the Guitar, horns, bass and vocals one time through, was out of a twisted sense of awe of those cats back then, who had ONE take to get it right..

Man o man.. we don't know how lucky we are now eh?
