I would really appreciate if you could take a look at my playing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xIUHamAUFQ&feature=channel_page and give me some constructive criticism, dont worry I'm a grown up I can take it. The video is not a performance more a record of where I'm at at this moment.

A little about me, I'm 2 and half years into learning. I love playing but for me its a long slow road and my progress is much slower than most but I'm old enough (42)to live with that. Anyway it would be good to get some feedback.

Thanks in advance.

sounds like you have been playing four years.
you're fine. you play well.
a bit too stiff and perfect for the camera. we're all guilty of that.
you fret clean. you don't choke the guitar. the rhythm isn't mechanical.
begin to have fun with the rhythm now.
depending on the song, not all beats need a strum.
some need none some can take more.
your right hand seems anchored. I mean, your strokes were over the same part of the guitar the whole time.
I think I move around a bit. I found that where I strum has different tonal sounds.
towards the bridge,I hear a treble sound, brittle or bright.
playing over the neck the tone is woodier, rounder.
I guess I am saying you are talented enough to be able to make playing even more interesting.

You play the open chords & barre chords really well, transitioning between chords is smooth, you can use your pinky to play the suspended chords, and your timing is right on. I don't think you've got too much to worry about when it come to rhythm playing. 8)

I think 42 is perfect for playing guitar. Obviously you don't learn as fast as you are 10 but I think we can live with that.

No new info, I agree with the previous posts. You play really well. The timing is very good and the chord changes are smooth. Perhaps they could be even smoothers in fast part when several chords are played over the neck but it is a tricky part (anyway, please, don't take into it, I just am a beginner bass player).

Congrats!

Thanks for taking the time and thanks for the comments.

Dogbite I think your comment about being too stiff and perfect for the camera is spot on. The first time I watched it back I thought the same, I wondered if that might look like playing without feeling.

I hadnt really bothered to much with the "here here" section but its a really good place, lots of inspiration.

well im no expert so i can't offer any sort of criticism, but it looked more than fine to me. I started as an adult as well, and i think we have been playing a similar time - its good to know im not the only one!!

by the way, nice choice of tune!!
