I posted these although they're not really songs. A friend of mine needed some transition music for an unofficial documentary on the Sturgess Bike Rally 2004. Nothing too serious but It's amazing that I was able to escape the kids. Long enough to accomplish this much. As meager as it is. Don't mind the mistakes.

The tracks are: Fire Breathing Monster and Memorium.

Some really nice stuff there man. It's interesting when you do other people's stuff (or rather, they send you ideas or requirements) because it makes you think outside of yourself. And to constrain yourself to leadins and leadouts of :30-:45 is terrific. You really have to say what you want to say with no fooling around. Like editing a short story down to match a publisher's requirements.

Or, like the Police would do before anything go recorded.

That's a great portfolio you got there, keep it up and keep adding to it.

Your lead style by the way, is very fluid and melodic; something I find important above all else.

Take care :)

Thanks for the comment and yes somehow I find other peoples intent is more inspirational than my own.

Very nice, Hue. Soundtrack and ambient music really work for me, and this is good stuff. You really do have a well-developed lead style. Must have been a fun project.

I don't know if I nearly deserve that complement but thank you. It was fun doing the project yeah. I hope I can keep doing this kind of thing it's helping me to sharpen my ears. I'm in a bit of a rut right now as far as my playing goes. This kind of thing really helps to work out the knots so to speak.

Yah we all fall into ruts I guess; it's fun when we come out of them though, and sometimes it just takes some project or idea or thought to bring us out of ourselves. Ruts are really just circular thought/habit patterns and outside projects can be just the cure.

Like with me, I started out playing by ear, then went to college to study music (and then spent several years trying 'not' to think of what I learned), and then my wife'll do something or sing something or write some song and I go "Wow, I would never have thought of that in a million years." Not to say study isn't good, but there's stuff beyond what's been done, you know? And when I start working on one of her things I hear all these different things I never would've thought of. I guess it's like eating something that somebody else prepared. When you make your own dinner, you already know what to expect pretty much; when someone else makes it, it's completely new when it's set before you.

And funny Hue, I had a thought about your time constraints, what with the kids and all. Sometimes, having too much time is not a good thing. I know most people assume they always have it and waste it. But when time's in short supply it's more appreciated I think. Like it's precious - as it should be - and any moment that can be grabbed is like gold. Lots of times that's when the best stuff happens too.

Keep going and try not to, as most of us do anyhow, put yourself down so much. You play what you play. It's not a competitive/comparative thing, this music. The music just is and we get to peep in on it once and awhile and see if we can pick up on what's going on in our heads, and then try as best we can to bring it out into the world. There's no 'good, bad, better' in that.

Best regards.

DemoEtc. thanks. I appreciate the input. I'm not really being down on myself. I just want to be better. I know there are many talented musicians right here in this community.

I have a fear of developing "Adult Hydrocephalus" (accelerated growth of the head.) I know that the day that this starts to happen, not only will I be setting myself up for a fall and severe verbal whacking but also I will stop developing and all of that is just bad. I can be a jerk at times as it is. Don't want to accentuate the effect.

Adult Hydrocephalus -- that's a good one!

Got what you're saying though. I'm the most arrogant person I know. I don't say much (verbally that is), but I've overheard more than a few 'inner dialogs' that were less than humble, even at the half century mark!

Still, that's what I got to work with, same like with everyone else :)

Bottom line is though, good work -- keep it up!
