My son told me Friday that he wanted us to record a version of Mr. Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight." We recorded on Saturday and I mixed it Sunday. There's still a little work to be done, but we're pretty happy with it. There are 3 or 4 guitars in the original, but we decided to strip it down a little. I may go back and record the arpeggio guitar part. The vocals on the bridge need some work, it's a little outside my range.
Guitar: Alec
Vocals & Bass: Me
Drums & Organ: MIDI
Like you said, a few rough spots on the vocal but not bad! 8)

well the vocal is a hell of a lot better than i could have done :D
your son did a good job on the guitar, and the recording is very good.
when you say the organ is midi - what does that mean? i know midi is a type of file, but thats all.
"I like to play that guitar. I have to stare at it while I'm playing it because I'm not very good at playing it."
Noel Gallagher (who took the words right out of my mouth)
well the vocal is a hell of a lot better than i could have done :D
You must sing terribly then!

I found a Guitar Pro file that had all the instruments and exported it to MIDI format. Then imported the organ and drum track into Reaper. I used Addictive Drums and some other freeware VST organ, which reads the MIDI to play. I tweaked the sound of both a bit in the mix. We were going to actually play the organ part, but didn't really have time. He plays drums as well, but I don't have enough mics or the right kind of room to record them well. So, we used a little computer assistance.
great job man! Sounds like you all had fun!
In Space, no one can hear me sing!
you are going in the exact direction, just smoothen the raw edges and you'll have a great song recorded.
Good job :note2:
