This is my first attempt at layering multiple videos and audio together! Took me a little while to get it right and recording the second part of the song was hard because I use my mp3 player to record usually, but I needed that to listen to the rhythym playing part on my mp3 player using a headphone so I could play in time with the music without creating an extra layer of background sound! Crazy eh? So what you hear is the rhythym stuff recorded with the mp3 player and the acoustic bit is a direct sound off the camcorder (hence you can hear the increased noise because it isn't as good at recording).

Opinions are welcome! :)

That was very good and I enjoyed it.

Now, not to be critical at all, but you are not playing that lick quite right. You are actually playing more than the recording:

e----------------------
b----------------------
g----------------------
d------------0-2-------
a--------0-2-----------
e--3---3---------------

You are adding an extra G note. Also, the B note on the A string is hammered-on, not picked.

e-----------------------
b-----------------------
g-----------------------
d-------------0--2------
a-------0h-2------------
e--3--------------------

Sorry, not trying to be overpicky at all. And I could easily recognize the riff the way you played it. But listen carefully and you will hear this riff and the timing are a little different than you played it.

But you did good, and it's pretty cool you could over-lap the videos like that.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the feedback. :) No I much prefer people piping up than just saying "that was nice" . . . helps me improve! :)

Yeah I was aware the timing wasn't quite right from when I've listened to it, but I seem to default to my own timing when playing it myself for some reason.

I don't think the little solo bit is quite right either, but I'm only trying to do a reasonably close cover.

The intention is to (when I've practiced a lot more!) do a cover complete with vocals too . . . I'll try and get it right then!

Thanks for the feedback again. :)

Glad you took that as constructive criticism, that's how I intended it. :D

Yeah, the difficult part of that little phrase is that it is not straight eighth notes. Sometimes it's easier to play an extra note than rest.

Keep at it, you'll get it. Then once you get it down, play it your own original way. :D

But again, it was very good and I enjoyed it.

Yeah, it's a bit strange. I've just had a little play again using your tab (thanks for that by the way!) and it does seem to fit. I was having to concentrate in not hitting the extra G though!

Doing this song this way gave me a change to give my VJ it's first internet recording too. 8)

Thanks smokindog. :)

How do you mean it's a great way to learn? Recording the rythym bit and lead bits and putting them together?

Yeah, I think it helps with things like timing, rhythm, and putting arrangements together. Get a bass and your a one man band :D

Cheers, yeah I think so . . . as for a bass, the thought has crossed my mind but I've not been playing for a year yet and have aquired far too much stuff already!

This guy inspired me to do that video the way I did: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=mdjs70YJ49c
