Just how unsafe is active X ? Every time I click on a link these days my PC asks me do I really want to run active X plug-in or do I want to download active X.

Anybody please, Do I ???? :?

Hi Rodders,

It depends on the web site. An Active X control is not safe or unsafe. It is an application or program that will run in your machine. It could be similar to JavaScript or Java applets. For example, the downloads from the PSP site are controled by a Java applet. It should be safe.

But if you use Internet Explorer, Active X should be already intalled. Usually Mozilla and other browsers don't support it or you need to intall a specific plug-in.

Currently, sometimes, this site opens new windows with virus warning or so. They are opened by the new ads. Sites as Ultimate Guitar also use this kind of ads. I don't know if you are refering to those windows.
