I haven't done any "serious" home recording since my Fostex X-15 four-track cassette recorder died, about 15 years ago. Now, at last, I have the space and equipment to get started again, this time in a digital format. The gear is nothing special. I have some familiarity with Audacity, and it seems just fine, and I'm looking closely at the recommendations in this forum's sticky thread. I also however have a full Cakewalk 6.0 kit I found at a yard sale (five bux) -- obsolete, yes, but my computer will run it just fine. How do the two programs match up? Which has the edge in terms of learning curve vs. recording capabilities?

What's the better option, and why?
