good morning. I just opened my Firebox audio interface; it comes with Cubase.
I am having trouble. I inserted the CD to get things started. I cam eto the part wher I can install and plug in the Firebox (in order to continue installing the drivers). well. this is where i am having problems.
there are two cords that came with this. one is multi ended...it is the MIDI and S/PDIF IN and OUT. the other cord has a small rectangular end; the same on each end of cord. one end fits into the back of the Firebox, but theother end does not fit anywhere on my tower; front or back.
that is my problem.
what cord do I need? why isnt it provided with the purchase.?
this it so typical. the salesclerk said everything needed is in the box.
right. it isnt.
I am not running MIDI at the moment. just planning to plug in the interface and plug the guitar into that. then record.
help!!!!!!!!!!!

on another forum I got an answer. MACs are friendly in that they all ready have a port for firewire. PCs donot. so I need to get the cord with two different sizes. one end should look like the end that our mouses have. and the other end should be smaller and fit into the Firebox.

RANT....so typical when starting something new. plumbing, computer, you name it. you always have to run and get another part before you can start and/or finish. I had this sunday set aside to setup, get to know the device and maybe record. but no.
I have to venture out into the 11 below zero frigid day and drive to the store for that cord.

hey. I see you are looking. how about some comments? any aside will help. give me your two cents, pence, drachma. :)

I found out that to run Firebox by Prosonus on my Dell PC I need a firewire PCI card. that way I will have the correct port.
trouble is my PC does not accept the card buss configuration.
so back to the store it went. I need, I guess, a USB connection.
so now I have the Lexicon Lamda home studio. Cubase is loaded into it.
downloading from the CD I was asked to enter the serial code from the package.
there wasnt enough room in the boxes for the code I had to enter. I received 'Invalid Code' alerts.
so before I take this unit back to the store I contacted Lexicon.
they appologized for having the wrong code printed. I have a new code now.
just waiting to get home to see if it works.

any one use Lexicon?

It's a new Dell and you don't have a firewire port? :?

It should be labeled - IEEE 1396

It looks kind-of like the USB, but it's shorter and fatter.

I know. I know. one would think that this PC would. it does not. believe me I looked and tried poking the firewire sized end into all ports.
nada.
but I will look again.
IEEE 1396. thank you.
