Hey guys,
I recently heard about a couple good speaker simulators to use while plugging in direct to a board, or even live playing. One of them is a Behringer product, and I can't remember the other one. Anyway, does anyone out there use a speaker sim, and if so, what do you think of them? I always play in my home studio, so this might be a good idea for me.

Cabinet simulators have been a part of the Line6 Pod products since that very first POD. Amp Farm does as well:

Cabinet sims are now pretty mainstream in the recording industry.

Thanks Gnease, but isn't AmpFarm fro Pro-Tools? I don't use Pro Tools and I was looking more for a hardware speaker sim, but I think I'll take a look at the POD one you mentioned. Thanks for your input!

It is -- I put is there as an example of SW modeling. The POD will cost more than the Behringer models, but some believe it's worth it. Also note there are several POD models currently sold, as well as several available only as used, but cheaper (POD, POD II).

Thanks Gnease! I ordered the Behringer one, and depending on how I like it, I may check out the POD ones. You can't skimp on a good speaker sim when you're only doing direct recording like me =)

What about Palmer gear they do great speaker sims cheap to expensive. I got two secondhand one PDI-05 which is stereo. You can plug a stomp box or multi FX into it then straight into the desk. I go straight into the soundcard. And one PGA-04 which has a speaker load as well so I can unplug the speaker in my combo and crank my amp straight into the soundcard. Heres a link ( they do a tiny one as well.....cheaper) http://palmergear.com/recording_studio.shtml On my signature below all the guitars are direct, a couple with the PDI-05 the rest are multi FX units. Iv,e only just got the PGA-04 and its working really well actually my amp sounds better because I can really turn it up loud and the tubes do their thing..........zzzzzing!!!!!

Hey Zappa! I checked out the site you linked to, with the Palmer speaker sims, and wow they are expensive!! When you said cheap I thought you meant a few hundred dollars or less, but the two they had on that site were over $600. Too rich for my blood haha.

Hey Zappa,
Oooh thanks for the updated info on that DI box. I think I missed it because I thought it was just a regular DI box, without speaker simulation. I'll try to find some audio clips of that. Thanks again for your help =)
