I have a situation....Ive plugged my guitar into my soundcard, and I seem to get no responce from programs. Like I never plugged it in.....

Right click on the speaker Icon in the bottom right hand corner. Click open volume controls. Click options/properties/recording/ok. Make sure line is selected. Deselect "what you hear" deselect mic. Unmute line. You may, as it has been suggested several times, want to purchase either a small mixer or direct box. This will greatly improve the quality of your sound.

You may also need to go into the control panel and click the sound and media icon and then from the drop down menus tell windows what device your using to record with.
