recording from amp with no line out

okay I got an old tube amp, a 68 bassman, and I could mic it which would probably be better, but in theory could I use the speaker out jack to record though a usb preamp?

Good lord, no! You'd definitely blow the preamp, and possibly damage the amp too.

so is there any way other than miking to record from it? I am not opposed to miking it, just wondered if there was other options.

You could get an attentuator, hook it up to speaker out, and then go from the attentuator's line out to whatever you are recording with.
