Hey all don't blame me if this seems like a totally idiotic question i'm a newbie to audacity. But what do i need to record onto the damn thing? I don't even have a computer mic and i don't know if i can plug my cable into the computer or what. Someone please give me some kind of feedback.

Your computer wants either a mic or a line-level input. Your guitar supplies neither.
This means that you will need something between guitar and pc. If you want to record acoustic guitar and vocals, as well as electric guitar, the best solution is a small mixer (like the Behringer UB802).
If you only want to use electric guitar, you can use the line out from an amp or a DI box (you can get a simple, no-frills DI for around $10). If you have a multi-fx box (such as the Zoom 505 or Digitech RP80) they can go straight into the pc.

And welcome to the home for the musically insane

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?
