Hey everyone

Have a question on recording I can record one guitar then record my singing over the top of it , but when I go to play another guitar over it I can't get the two in time it's like the second one is a milli second behind the first and this makes the recording sound horrible .

Is there a way of getting both guitars starting at the same time ?

I count in with both guitars and play the same time , same beat same everything but the second guitar is like I said a milli second behind .

I am using Audacity as my recording programme and have a 10 channel mixer , I 'm only starting on my quest to make my own music . I probably don't understand the mixer totally yet , and I don't understand Audacity that well at all.

Thanks in advance

Hilch :?:

ps

all my so called music can be heard at my wbb site

I assume you are recording on 3 different tracks in audacity so the problem may be that the CPU can't keep up with playing 2 tracks and recording a third at the same time. Try recording the 2 guitars on tracks 1 and 2 then record the voice on 3 and see if that helps. If the voice is off evenly throughout the song by a Milli second you can actually shift the track forward or back to get it in time.

Hilch. Do something for me, please.

Set a click track.

Then record something for at least 40 seconds. Stop playing BUT before you hit stop, watch the track you just recorded and then hit Stop. Did you notice the track shift to the left when you clicked the stop button? If you didn't, repeat the steps.

Post your results.

Thanks!

Bish

Hi Hilch
What type of soundcard do you use in your PC.
I had similar problem with Audacity on my PC in the first recordings i did.
If I recorded a second track after a first track, the second track was always delayed or not in sync.
I changed from Audacity to the Kristal Audio Engine together with ASIO4ALL (asio driver) to reduce the delay (latency) between recorded tracks.
Now it works good even on the simple soundcards I use.

Tanglewood TW28STE (Shadow P7 EQ) acoustic
Yamaha RGX 320FZ electric guitar/Egnater Tweaker 15 amp.
Yamaha RBX 270 bass/Laney DB 150 amp.
