Okay, I've just got a Boss Rc-20XL pedal and I have two problems
1) I have a little issue with playing over distorted loops...
What happens is that the distorted signil from the loop and the distored playing from my guitar clash totally. For example, I recorded the intro rythem to Surfing With the Alien. Play it back. Then all I need do is strike a power chord and bang the loop is drouned out totally. Its not an issue of adjusting the volume of playback (LEVEL) against the instrument volume (INST) - the signals just simply clash, plain n simple
2) I start to record a clean riff. End recording. Its plays back in a loop. Then when I switch to a distorted channel, but then the loop also becomes distorted! WHY?!!? This almost totally diffies the point in using it.
Is it because my amp is a modeling amp or what?! Or am I doing something wrong?
is the pedal between the guitar and the amp, or is it set up in the effects loop?
yep just between guitar and amp
Ok nevermind, I've worked it out
After getting another DC adapter for my Boss distortion pedal I found u have to use a pedal and hav the RC Loop station between the pedal and amp.
Yeah if you try to loop a channel with lots of gain and play over it, it won't work too well. The phrase being looped drops out everytime you play over it. Using a semi clean channel as the base and then turning on an distortion pedal after you've set a looping phrase is the best way in my experience with the unit.
