Hey all,

I've been playing through a Vox AD30VT since December but, as a huge Beatles/British sound fan, the holy grail for me has always been an AC30. Thanks to my new job I was finally able to pick one up a couple of weeks ago!

It's such a beautiful thing. I use an A/B footswitch to alternate between the Normal and Top Boost channels to get a crunchy, overdriven sound and it's just great. In fact, I'm having a hard time even finding an opportunity to use my Maxon OD808 Overdrive pedal. I used to love it, but now it just seems to make the sound muddy and weak in comparison.

I did have to sit down with my whole pedalboard yesterday, and recalibrate, finding new settings that appeal to me coming through the new amplifier. I'm not nearly as inclined to use as many effects as I used to be, because the tone is just so nice naturally.

Congrats on your AC30! One day I'll have mine too!

Congrats! Best sounding amp ever! (IMO, of course.)

Did you get it with the Wharfedales or the Celestion Blues?

I got the basic model, with the Wharfdale speakers.

Someday I might upgrade the speakers, but I'd need to do some comparison to see.

One thing that was fun was I used my A/B switcher to A/B between my AC30 and the AD30VT, just to hear the difference. Man, what a difference! I was pretty happy with my tone from the AD30VT, I'd found some settings that suited my sound pretty well. But it's no comparison to the real thing!

Congrats on the AC30!

Here is a video you might like, my man Frank Black. He always plays a Tele straight through a Vox AC30, no effects or stompboxes, just pure AC30 tone.

Ah yes, one of the many things i can thank the Brits for besides the Beatles and chips are the Voxs. I love my AD50VT. Love the sound(s), love the power; 50 watts which will cut through anything. I too noticed the Vox because I am a HUGE Beatles fan. I wanted an honest to goodness AC30 tube, but they were just a little too expensive for me. The AD50 was a great compromise. No regrets.

I'd love an AC30. I sold off my ADT30 last year. It was a pretty decent little amp, but I am sure not quite as pure as the "real" thing, the AC30.

It is a small world for metal fanatics. I welcome you fellow musicians, especially the metalheads!
