Pedal into amp question?

I bought a ZOOM G1X pedal. When I plug it into one of the input jacks it is fine. I want to plug the pedal into the effects loop. The problem is when I plug it either into the send or return jack, it is EXTREMELY loud. My amp is a Crage Limited Edition G130XL (130w 2x12)

Any idea why this may be?
