I'm currently into unusual vintage effects - particularly if they aren't made anymore.
Someone locally is selling a Schober Reverbatape.
It's a tape delay that was used in Schober organs.
I've read that it sounds awesome (for organs).

I was wondering if it was worth getting one to see if it makes a cool guitar effect.

It looks like it's in good condition but needs to have the tape replaced.
Are parts and repairs a major issue for these things?

If you want, you can suggest another discontinued or unusual vintage effect for me to toy with that's better for guitar.
I'm considering designing and building a new guitar effect and want to make it interesting.

So long as it's going for reasonable money, I don't think you can go too far wrong. Whatever sound it produces, you've got to be able to find something you can do with it.

If you want vintage tape echo units, then look for WEM (Watkins) Copicat, Klemt Echolette or, if you have a very deep pocket, the Binson Echorec (it's not tape, it uses a drum), Vox Echo or the Roland Space Echo.
Tapes are usually not a problem, you get a small reel of 1/4" reel-to-reel tape and splice your own.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
