Hi All!

I must have read almost every article on GuitarNoise, but for some reason never followed the forum link at the bottom of the page... So I decided I should rectify that and come and have a look - glad I did!

I'm Ross, 27 and from central England. I was taught a bit of piano as a child and I've been playing guitar since I was about 13, but until I found GN I never really 'got' music. A year or so later I finally passed the point of no return, and now can't help playing for at least a couple of hours a day. Constant learning is a lot more addictive than just mechanically blasting out this tune or that riff...

I play mostly rock, blues, indie, punk, and etc. I'm a big Nirvana fan and like to make a noise with that. I also play a bit of Oasis, a few punk numbers, and some softer stuff the missus forced me to learn ;) I do some composing (mostly by improvising then writing down) but just for fun. My pride and joy is my Ibanez RG, which goes through a few stompboxes and a (borrowed :( ) Park amp. After that comes an Encore western, downtuned half a step because I love the sound. I also have an old and battered Westfield with a dodgy neck and a nice noisy sound and a cheap Encore Strat replica that's unremarkable except for the fact that it was my first guitar.

Anyway, enough about my life story - Hello there everyone :) Anyone else from the East Midlands area? I saw the map thread but Frappr doesn't seem to work in my browser.

Welcome to GN, Ross from the sunny south coast.

See you round the boards.

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.
It was them that turned me to drink.
