A newbie 49yr old who wants to be playing en songs by September (The BIG 50)

Been trying for 6 weeks and can bash out Folsom Prison Blues (Or a very poor variant) and House of the rising sun. Want to do some lessons and looking for advice.

It's never too late to pick up an instrument. Welcome to the club. I'm one of those that started and quit several times over the years before finally sticking it out, so my advice is to not give up. If you get frustrated, set it down for the day and come back to it. Keep practicing and don't be tempted to try to learn 50 songs at one time.

I turned the big 50 last fall. I suppose I'm not a newbie but that doesn't matter. There is always a challange. That is what is cool about playing guitar. It is a journey not a destination. 33 years and still learning.
