Hey there, my name's Alejandro, and I'm glad to be here!

I'm what you might call a "near" absolute beginner to the guitar. I've been exposed to the sound and methods of playing for years, but never actually sat down and seriously learned how to play.

Well, that changed a few weeks ago.

Me and a buddy of mine are starting a band, with me as lead vocal. The thing is, we have vocals (me), bass/accoustic/electric (my bud), and drums (a friend of the former).

The thing is, we'd really like to play around with multiple parts and such, so we need at least one more guitarist/bassist.

None to be found.

So, as we work on writing songs and notation, I'm going to apply myself to learning the guitar. (accoustic)

Well, that's me.

See ya'll out there!

Hey Texas

Welcome to GN. Keep you eye on the prize and practice your craft.. you'll meet others that play and can pick up members. Use Craigslist, post ads at music stores, play open mics. I was exactly where you are a couple months ago and quickly found everything I needed. Even dropped my need for an additional guitarist by learning to play and sing...

Good luck to you guys. Post us a sample when you get one.

Ah Texas - I was there last year on Holiday, all the way from England.....I saw Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan and the Doobies all on the same day in Fort Worth - I'd love to go back there....

Anyway, keep practising mate, I may just see you in the Fallout Lounge in Dallas if I ever make it back....

Good luck with the guitar, and welcome to GN....

Thanks so much for the advice, encouragement, and the warm welcome!

I currently live around Lexington, Kentucky, but I lived in Houston for most of my formative years.

I am a Texan through and through, and that's the state I associate myself with.

Well hopefully you guys will be able to see me grow as a musician during my stay here. That is, once I get better video/audio equipment.

Looking forward to seeing you round the forums.

It was them that turned me to drink.
