Hallo, I have enjoyed playing for a number of years, but I make better guitars than I do play them. Fortunately I have an Elder son who cannot make them, but can play something wicked. (He is my biggest critic).
I specialise in High end replica Strats and teles, and have received a number of commissions, mainly for 'Hank' signature Strats, with a couple of Jerry Donahue Teles thrown in. My main market has been Ebay, and have struck up quite a number of friendships via the sales, and component purchases. The creating is my main hobby, and has given me a lot of pleasure over the past 2 years. I thoroughly enjoy mixing pickups, trying new wiring options, in an endless search for tone.
I am trying to set up a different amplification path at present using 2 Bi-amped Active Speakers, and a music Processor, (Lexicon Reverb/Echo plus), instead of the usual guitar valve amp etc.
Not interested in connecting up a PC, but simply to find new spatial tones, and use this as my main guitar setup.
I would very much like to hear from anyone who has gone down this route or has any advice as to what else I might need to complete the package, such as a Mixer, or pre-amp?
I used a cheap Zoom 505 about 8 years ago, with a pair of clapped out 50 watt active speakers, just that, and, ignoring the background noise the speakers were adding to the result, the sound was pretty impressive- Very Spacey, toppy , but with a lot of presence and clarity. (60's Spotnicks).
Any thoughts? Regards, arthur.

Welcome to GN! I don't have the time nor patience for the hobby of guitar building, but it does sound like it is very rewarding. Keep searching for that elusive tone! :D

Thankyou to all those kind members who took the time to welcome me.Best wishes to you all. Guitar building is as exciting as playing them.ALL guitars sound different, and to play a new creation for the first time is stressful as well as satisfying. Emotions can run from utter frustration to sublime joy. Often it is somewhere in between. New built guitars need to be tuned, like cars to elicit the best performance. Pass that spanner......
