It's gone in for covering today. I've chosen a finish leatherette ala the new Blackstar amps, i.e., a deep mahogany / rosewood coloured leatherette. I am now hunting around for grill cloth for the front, but it'll be a week before the rest of the body is covered so I've got a few days!

OK, well it's taken far longer than expected to get this finished! The box was covered incorrectly the first time, so it had to go back, but they had to re-order all the materials which took a week, and Easter also added further delays. Anyway . . . got the covered box back yesterday, so I've since purchased some speaker grill cloth and I covered the speaker board myself this evening (after a huge amount of planing to reduce the dimensions so the heavyweight cloth would fit in the recess!! The cloth I've used is an acoustically transparent material more ordinarily seen in cars . . . i.e., it's very tough!).
Plugged the EVJ into it and from every sound, smooth cleans to cranked to the max, it sounded absolutely phenomenal! Hugely louder too, but the real bonus came when the volume pot sailed past about 10am, where previously the stock speaker began to break up . . . now you just get that fantastic valve tone! Even in triode mode though, at 2w, it's very very loud though!
Here's a few piccies of the finished product. The flash has made the material come up a bit brighter than it really is, but it is late and I'm too tired to fuss about taking decent photographs!
I am very pleased indeed!

Thanks for the comments folks. :)
I still can't believe how much it changes the EVJ's sound! Just goes to show how inadequate the 8" speaker is in the EVJ . . . confining even further great potential! :D
